I am no longer a newspaper reporter and although I miss it all a lot, I enjoyed not having to write, but simply enjoying an event today- because today VAST held a festival at the clock tower square dedicated to garbage.
The 'Young Zoom on garbage' was a display of pictures that the very young participants had taken of garbage all over Thimphu (And many of them were beautiful- i know i am describing pictures of garbage but they were)....but the exhibition was much much more. Like it always does, VAST did a beautiful job with the whole thing. My favourite thing was the huge raindrops....I know it represented a serious message- but the effect was magical!
Here are some pictures, and the festival is on for two more days- please visit, and please dont vandalise. Oh, and buy eco bags. They are very stylish- AND eco-friendly. :)
